Format of BITSAA SVC Golf
Who
can participate:
BITSians, family members, and friends. The event format is
such that everybody will have a good time. The course also
offers enough challenges for experienced golfers.
Entry
fee:
$25 per person. This fee includes green fees, samosa and chai. In case you don’t have golf clubs then you can
either borrow them from a friend or rent them from the Fremont
Park Golf course pro shop at an additional cost. Please call
the pro shop few days in advance on 510-790-1919 to reserve
a set.
Payment:
Please make your payment online at 123signup.com or mail a check to BITSAA SVC. Details will be provided in the evite.
Since we need to have a fixed number of tee times arranged
with the course one week in advance, we plan to close the
event registration one week before the date of this event.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation.
Schedule:
8.00AM – 8.30AM Registration
8.30AM - 9.00AM - practice session for beginners
9.00AM - 9.30AM Tee-offs
11.45AM Last group submits a score card
12.00PM Prize distribution
Style:
BITSAA Scramble Golf
In a scramble, team members all hit one shot each. If one
member's shot goes haywire, the person can decide which is
the best shot from among other team members' shots, and then
hit the next shot from that spot; and repeat the scramble
for another not-so-good shot. This continues until the ball
is in the hole. This allows you to really learn the game and
move on without spending too much time on the fairway or in
the rough. Stroke play counts the number of times the team
hits the ball.
We
will try our best to form teams with combination of beginners
and experienced golfers. Each team will have a team leader
whose responsibility is to maintain proper score and account
for penalties if any. Score cards should be signed by all
the team members and submitted at BITSAA SVC registration
desk.
Prizes:
1) Lowest team score based upon total number of strokes. There
will be a prize for each member of the winning team.
2) Closest to the pin on three par-3 holes (Ball must be on
the green). Please write name of the player and distance from
the hole on the marker provided at the hole.
3) Longest drive on one par-4 (Ball must be on the fairway).
Please move the marker to the new position which must be farther
from the tee compared to previous position of the marker.
4) Highest team score based upon total number of strokes.
There will be a prize for each member of the team
